Product Designer (all genders)

Permanent employee, Full-time · München

About us
Our mission at Avelios is to build the leading software platform for the data-driven digitization of hospitals and patient care. To do so, we have built a modular software platform that digitizes and optimizes workflows in hospitals with cutting-edge technology in a user-friendly way. With our software, we enable hospitals, doctors & nurses to provide their patients with the best possible care.
We are growing fast and want to keep expanding our team and business to fundamentally digitize healthcare for the better. We appreciate different backgrounds and see diversity as one of our strengths.
The Team and Role

To continue shaping the future of healthcare, we are looking for a Product-Designer (all genders) to join our product team as a key contributor. In this role, you will be at the intersection of design, medicine, and technology: working hand-in-hand with product managers, engineers, and our subject-matter expert team of experienced doctors to design intuitive and user-centered solutions for hospitals.

Your work will span from prototyping, workflow optimization, and early UX research to high-fidelity UI design. You will also collaborate closely with engineering to ensure design quality and technical feasibility, engage in trade-off discussions, and help evolve our design system, including maintaining component consistency and working together on our Storybook implementation.

You will have the chance to pioneer UX research practices, protocols, and approaches within our team, helping us build a strong design culture while directly shaping how healthcare is delivered across Germany and beyond. Occasional travel to hospitals for on-site research will give you firsthand insight into user needs and workflows.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design user-centric solutions that balance user needs, medical requirements, technical feasibility, and business goals
  • Create Figma prototypes, intuitive user flows and high-fidelity screens to communicate, validate and refine ideas
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and medical professionals to iterate and implement outstanding software experiences
  • Work hand-in-hand with engineering on trade-off discussions and contribute to our design system and Storybook to ensure consistency, scalability, and feasibility
  • Develop hypotheses and design user interviews, usability studies, and occasional on-site research for external validation and actionable design improvements
Your Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Product Design, ideally within a B2B or software product environment
  • A degree in design, human–computer interaction, communication sciences, information design, or a comparable field
  • Proficiency with modern design tools (especially Figma) and a strong command of UX principles and methods
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, engaging in trade-off discussions and clearly communicating how design decisions impact usability, performance, and outcomes
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and their practical application in digital interfaces
  • A solution-oriented mindset that thrives in ambiguity, driving clarity, execution, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience within the healthcare industry and a structured design portfolio that demonstrates clear thinking and problem-solving are a plus, but not required.
  • Fluency in German and English
Your Benefits
  • A flexible as well as results-oriented working environment and trust-based working hours
  • A variety in your tasks and the opportunity to take ownership
  • An international, informal team structure in a motivating start-up atmosphere, allowing you to participate directly in our customer growth story and the overall success of Avelios
  • Ability to gain valuable hands-on experience in a startup backed by leading international VCs
  • Attractive salary and virtual company shares
  • A monthly meal allowance up to 75 euros, the cost coverage of the Germany ticket (Deutschlandticket), and other additional benefits, such as UrbanSportsClub membership, a bike leasing program and corporate benefits
